What we do not do

• We do not track your location continuously. Ever.
• We do not sell data to anyone, and there are no advertisers.
• We do not profile you for advertising.
• We do not tell organisers who was standing where.

Location

Convosphere is a chat that starts from where you are, so location matters. We ask for it while in use: the app reads where you are while you are using it, to show you what is around and to let you into the channels of the events around you.

With the app closed we do not read your location, except in the case below, which is your call.

The arrival alert, optional

If you save an event we may ask whether you want to be told when you get there. If you say yes, the phone registers an area around that place and alerts you by itself when you enter it: the operating system does the comparison, and your location never reaches us.

If you say no we do not ask again. You can change your mind any time from the phone settings.

Official event metrics

We show organisers how many people entered their channel, how many read each announcement, and how the crowd spread across the event area.

The distribution data is built like this: while you are inside the area of a live event with the app open, your position is turned into a cell of roughly forty metres by twenty, and that cell is what gets recorded. The stored record carries no identifier: there is no user field that leads back to you, and exact coordinates are never kept.

Cells with fewer than five readings are never shown to anyone, because a cell with one person in it would be that person. Raw data is deleted within twenty-four hours.

What the organiser sees of you

Your name and your profile picture, as in any chat, if you write in the channel. Not your email, not your number, and not where you were standing.

This website

This site measures visits with our own counter, hosted on our own infrastructure: no cookies, no identifier that follows you elsewhere, no third-party service. We record the page viewed, the referrer, the campaign you came from, the kind of device and how long you stayed, tied to a random number that lives in your browser. If your browser sends Do Not Track, we record nothing.

Who processes the data

The data controller is Convosphere. We use Google Firebase for infrastructure, Stripe for organiser payments (we never see card details) and a mail provider for service emails.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, and you can delete your account from the app: deletion takes away messages, profile and everything attached to you. Aggregated metrics stay, because at that point they are not yours any more: they are numbers with nobody inside.
